Monyma is an accounting app, and your financial records are among the most sensitive things you can hand to an app. This page explains what is kept, where, and why.

In short

  • Your text messages and phone book are read on your phone and are never sent to us.
  • Your ledger lives on your phone. If sync is part of your edition, it is also kept on Monyma's server so you have it on your other devices.
  • We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. The app contains no third-party advertising or tracking tools.
  • Whenever you want, you can erase all of your data from your phone and the server.

What we collect and why

Your account

To sign in, we take your mobile number and send it a one-time code by SMS. The name you enter and an installation ID are also stored, so we can recognise your devices and attach your subscription to the right installation.

Your ledger

Everything you record in the app: accounts, transactions, cheques, loans and debts, goods and invoices, counterparties, sellers and partners, production data and any photos you attach to a transaction or an item. These are stored on your phone and, in editions that include sync, on Monyma's server as well.

Phone permissions

All of these are optional. Skip any of them and the app still works, and you can allow them later.

  • SMS: reads your bank messages so payments and deposits record themselves. Only messages from banks are read, and this happens on the phone. From each message, only the transaction (amount, date and type) is added to your ledger.
  • Notifications: reminders before cheques, instalments and debts fall due.
  • Location: if you turn it on, the place where you spent is saved on the transaction the moment the bank SMS arrives, even when the app is closed.
  • Contacts: lets you pick a counterparty's name and number from your phone book. Only the contact you choose is added to your ledger.
  • Camera: for receipt and invoice photos and for scanning barcodes.
  • Microphone: for entering transactions and invoice lines by voice. Speech is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition service.
  • Storage: to keep backup files outside the app folder, so they survive uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Backups

Backups are encrypted with AES-256 and only the app can open them. You choose where they go: your phone's storage or your own Google Drive. If you choose Google Drive, the file is stored in your own Google account.

Showcase

If you run a showcase, only what you choose to display goes to the server: item name and description, unit, sale price, minimum order and photo. Purchase prices, margins, stock, warehouses, barcodes and suppliers never leave your phone. Orders that buyers send are kept on the server so they can reach you. No money passes through Monyma.

SMS to your customers

SMS campaigns are sent through the SMS provider you choose and set up yourself. Your customers' numbers and the message text go to that provider only for that purpose.

Support and error reports

Messages and photos you send through Support, along with the name and number you leave for contact, are stored on Monyma's server so you can get a reply. Error reports stay on your phone and reach us only if you send them yourself.

Who can see your data

  • You.
  • People you add to your business, limited to their role and permissions. A partner sees the shared part of the business. A seller sees only their own documents, goods without purchase prices or stock, and customers by name only.
  • Buyers, who see only the showcase you publish.

Erasing your data

  • Erase everything: in the app menu, hold “Delete all data from server and app” for three seconds. Your ledger is erased from your phone and the server, and it cannot be brought back.
  • Delete your account: your account, your backups on the server and all of your data there are erased for good.
  • Uninstalling the app removes the ledger on your phone, but a backup file you saved outside the app folder stays until you delete it.

Security

The app talks to the server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), backups are encrypted with AES-256, and you can lock the app with your fingerprint.
